He grew up in Jacksonville, FL and moved to Pennsylvania in 1989 where he lived until his return to Jacksonville in 2022. After serving four years in the United States Army, he met his wife Cheryl in Fort Walton Beach Florida. They married in January of 1968 and soon became parents of their only son James Jr later that year. James, “Jim” owned several businesses including an automotive service, trucking brokerage and several entertainment management companies.
He is survived by his son James E. Jones, Jr, daughter in law Heather P. Jones, and grandson Blake Jones.
He is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl, parents George “Eddie” and Leila Jones; brothers Edward Jones, Wayne Jones, and sisters; Betty Falkner, Leila Dane Thornton, Joe Pearson, Madge Cowart, Edna Thornton and Ruby Scheider.
A visitation for James will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, followed by a Memorial Service to celebrate Jim's life at 12:00 PM.
