Howard L. Young, 85, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Alvis and Grace Young; brothers, Rex, Clay, Gary; and sister, Doris Hayes.
Howard was a Korean War veteran. After serving in the Navy for four years, he went to work at NAS Jax Civil Service retiring in 1986 after 36 years and 4 months of service. During that time, he served with the Air National Guard and then in the U.S. Naval Reserve until retirement in 1992. More importantly, he served his Lord faithfully all of his life in the church of Christ. This included serving as a Bible class teacher, a song leader, a deacon, and an elder. He was known and loved by a great many people for his dedicated service to others.
Howard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly; his two sons Michael (Cindy), Glenn (Tammy); grandchildren Daniel, Jonathan, and Heather McNatt (Daniel); and brothers Hugh(Dottie), Ray(Jeanette); and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Dr. Marks, Dr. Downey, Dr. Harris, and Dr. Hou for the excellent care they gave Howard during his illness.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, November 16 at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Friday, November 17 at the funeral home, followed by interment at Riverside Memorial Park.
