Grace Madaline Wicinski (nee Nugent), 91, currently of Jacksonville, FL passed away on December 20, 2013. She was born in West Brighton, Staten Island, New York to Charles P. and Grace (Goodski) Nugent, raised in Stapleton, and resided in Fort Wadsworth until 2007. After relocating to Jacksonville, she lived at Westminster Woods and Sterling House.
A graduate of Curtis High School, she worked for Fireman’s Fund Ins. Co., retiring in 1982 as a claims clerical supervisor after 25 years of service.
Mrs. Wicinski was active in many organizations, including Pioneers of Fireman’s Fund, Ocean Breeze AARP, Arrochar Friendship Club, New Lane Center, and St. Mary’s Over 50 Club. In 1993 she was awarded the Paul & Esther Leith Award for exemplary Senior Volunteer Service to meet the needs of people of New York. In Florida, she enjoyed the visits of the 4th grade students from J.C. Elementary School and reading to the children at the Goddard School.
Mrs. Wicinski had traveled extensively, visiting many parts of the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia. She loved puzzles, the Advance wordsearch, and more recently, the daily Bingo game.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Bruno Wicinski; her parents; sister, Eileen Lagomarsino; and brother, Charles P. Nugent. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Willette of Jacksonville, FL; son, Bruce Wicinski (Judy) of Crossville, TN; 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
