Grace O'Steen Bennett

Grace Marie Bennett (O'Steen), went to be with her Lord on Wed., May 1st at the age of 91. She was born in Douglas, GA in 1921 and moved to Wimauma at the age of 3 with her parents Grover and Maude (Butler) O'Steen and 6 siblings. She came to Jacksonville in 1948. She was a Rosie-the-Riveter in Key West, FL during WWII. She was a hairdresser by profession working at Cohn's and Mary's on Westside, and eventually owning her own shop, by which she bought a home and raised 2 daughters: Anna Bennett Scheu (Frank), her daughter Shelly Fordham (Sheldon), their daughter's Courtney Stack and Tianna Fordham, a son Cass Maliszewski; older daughter Carolynn Davis Luttrell (William), her son Jon (Judy), their son Jack and daughter Elizabeth, her daughter Mandi O'Dell (Chris). She was a life long member of the Church of God. Grace had a love of people and made many friends during her 60 year career and also loved her flowers, which she shared with all who knew her.
