Born January 17, 1927 to the parents of Gordon and Clarice Edwards in Jacksonville, FL., he accepted Christ at an early age and actively served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Woodstock Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Jacksonville.
He was a member of the greatest generation serving in the Navy during WWII. After the service he worked at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville where he retired after thirty-five years of employment as the Supervisor of the Sheet Metal Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Vivian Cook, and brother Gene Edwards. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Nell Edwards, of almost 69 years of marriage; sons Randy (Trish) and Gary (Deana); daughter Peggy Ceballos (Alan); and brother Walter (Beverly); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Woodstock Baptist Church, 9120 Crystal Springs RD, Jacksonville. Graveside services to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Family and friends’ visitation is Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Hardage Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund of the Woodstock Baptist Church.
