Georgiana Dorothy Poulos

Georgiana Dorothy Zauner Poulos, (Georgie) as she was known, 97, of Fruit Cove, Florida passed away on August 13, 2023. She was born to Margaret Greitz and Phillip Zauner on May 17, 1926 in Valley Stream, New York. There were ten siblings and she is survived by her younger sister Anne Connolly (Richard).

Georgie was married to Statheos aka Scottie Joseph Poulos, who has preceded her in death and is survived by their four children: Patricia Holland, Philip Poulos (Gail), Margaret Chance (David), and Sharon Chance (Mitchell aka Mike). She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

Georgie lived a full and wonderful life. She met her husband during WWII and they were married on November 16, 1946. While Scottie was in the Navy, she worked as a Riveter for Republic Air, Lynbrook, NY, after the war they were married and she worked as an electronic technician for Amprobe products.

They moved to Florida in 1966 and she worked for and retired from BellSouth/Southern Bell as a Long Distance Operation and Accounting Supervisor, from which she retired.

Georgie always saw good in people and will be greatly missed. Everybody loved her.

A Visitation will be held for Georgie on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Historic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. A committal will follow at Mandarin Cemetery.
