Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Jacksonville, August 5, 1928 to Morris and
Rebecca Savitz, immigrants of Warsaw. Russia, now Poland. George is survived by his
loving children daughters Terry Halback (Bill) of Evinston, Florida, Patty Nimnicht (Ed),
Joyce Savitz (Jacksonville Beach) and son Chris Savitz (Paige) Jacksonville. He also

beyond any of our expectations (Cooking his favorites, taking him on daily trips, making
life fun!!)
George was and avid fisherman (and won many awards) with Chris at his side on his
boat the “Whip-a-Snapper.” He graduated from Lee High School in Jacksonville in 1946
and was a WWII veteran in the US Army in Japan. He played basketball at Jacksonville
Junior College, now JU and went on to graduate from the University of Florida in 1952
George was always a Gator fan (and bled orange and blue). He had his own insurance
company until he retired in 2018.
