George was born in 1934 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Steve and Helen Parandes, immigrants from Mytilene, Greece.
George was an extrovert. He never met a stranger. He was a philanthropist and supported many charities – people and animals alike. He was never without a few dollars in his glove box to hand out to people on the street.
George loved his Greek Orthodox Church, beginning as an altar boy and continuing to serve tirelessly until almost the end of his life. George travelled to several countries and loved every one of them- particularly England where he was stationed with the Air Force and met & married his wife, Patricia.
He loved his life in the military and it seems fitting that he passed away on Veteran’s Day.
George leaves to remember him, his wife Patricia; his son, Philip; his daughter, Maria; his sister-in-law, Joyce; his nephew, David and his wife Marisa; and many friends all over the world.
If you wish to make an offering in George’s memory, he would like it to go to the St. John the Divine Capital Campaign.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church with both Rev. Dr. Nicholas Louh and Rev. Dr. Milton Magos Celebrating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with full military honors. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.greenlawnjacksonville.com
