Frederick Alan Harvey, ‘Fred’, was born January 26th, 1953, in Paw Paw, Michigan. Following an extended illness, Fred passed peacefully January 11, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida with his beloved family at his side. Fred grew up in Michigan and relocated to Florida in 1987. He served in the United States Navy, then moved on to careers as a machinist and later real estate, and as a dental technician. Family was important to Fred; he loved his family more than anything and loved celebrating special occasions and holidays together. Fred had many hobbies and interests such as fishing, hunting, football, golf, classic cars, rock music, playing trivia, doing jigsaw puzzles, gourmet foods, and loved road trips with his wife Becky to see the country. Fred loved his friends, and they loved him; he and Becky shared many trips with their fellow season ticket holders to watch the Jaguars play football, spent many ‘happy hours’ with friends at their favorite local places, attended concerts, vacationed by the ocean, in the mountains, and enjoyed golf resorts and cruising.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Verna Harvey and his brother Charles Harvey. Survivors include his wife Becky Harvey, son Tom Harvey (Ashlea) of Green Cove Springs, Melissa Garza (David) of Lake City, and three beautiful granddaughters Jessie Harris, Presley Harvey, and Ryleigh Harvey. He is also survived by his sister Linda Wallace (Larry) of Michigan, and brothers Daryl Harvey of Arkansas and John Harvey of Michigan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.
A visitation for Fred will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Community Hospice, Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville Humane Society, or any charity of your choice.
