Eugene “Dad” Bright was born in Charleston, West Virginia on January 31, 1939. Much of his childhood was spent in St. Cloud, Florida graduating from St. Cloud High School in 1956. He joined the Air Force shortly after graduation with no plan but an incredible love for life. He met Doris “Mom” in California a few years later and knew he had found his soul mate. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force after twenty years of service. He then settled in Florida to begin a new career. After a wonderful life as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, mentor and friend, God reunited Mom and Dad to continue what they started so many years ago.
Dad had many hobbies over his lifetime, photography, gardening, camping, canning, bread making, beer crafting, and boat building to name a few. His boat building skills showed the love he had for each person he made the ship for. He played a mean game of Hearts and winning so much you wondered whether there was any cheating involved – he was that good. Dad was a very positive and inspiring person, great listener, humorous personality with a contagious laugh.
Gene is survived by his son, Robert Bright and his wife Ann, daughter, Sharon Briggs and her husband Gerald, son, Steven Bright and his wife Teresa. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Justin Bright and his wife Katie, Morgan Bright and her husband Justin, and Emily Bright.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, September 18th, 2019 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
Memories of Dad are forever etched in our hearts and minds. We celebrate these memories and are comforted knowing Mom and Dad are together again.
