Emma Caroline Delaney was born on May 14, 1934 in Bladensboro, North Carolina, A small town just outside of Lumberton North Carolina. Her father was Joseph Chester Freeman and her mother was a Eulalia Phillips Freeman. She had a sister named Betty Freeman and brothers named William Phillip “Buck” Freeman, JC Freeman, James Freeman and possibly others. Her father was a tobacco farmer and all of his children work very hard helping with the planting and maintenance and picking Of the tobacco.
On February 25, 1953 she married John Paul Delaney in Norfolk Virginia. Her husband subsequently join the US Navy where he served 20 years, moving all across to country with his family. Her children were John, Carol, Patrick and James. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1968 from United States Navy the family resided in Jacksonville Florida. During her time in Jacksonville Florida she worked as a sales person for the JM Fields store on Arlington Expressway and then went on to work at the Ivy‘s clothing store in the Regency Square, Mall until she retired on May 27, 1989. She retired from the Ivys clothing store, she was one of the top sales persons at that location.
She is survived by her daughter Carol and sons Patrick and James. All with her surviving children reside in the greater Jacksonville metropolitan area.
