Proverbs 1:8-9 “Listen to your father and mother’s teachings, and you will be crowned with grace and honor.”
A friend to all; a stranger to none. Peacemaker, inspiration, kindred spirit, sweetheart, angel, FSU fan, larger than life, loved by all! Joy was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, aunt, cousin, friend. More importantly, she was a child of God.
Joy was born on September 16, 1938, to Elmo Russell and Mae Travis Smith. She graduated from Andrew Jackson in 1956. Joy was of Mormon faith and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Joy is preceded by her parents Elmo R. and Mae T. Smith, her husband of 57 years James F. Jimmie Williams, Sr., her sister Hazel Booth, her In-Laws Fred and Blanche Williams, Fur Babies Annie and Baby.
As a Masonic affiliated family, Joy was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Riverside Chapter #218. She was the “stand-in” mom for Riverside Rainbow and Woodstock DeMolay. Joy’s favorite ceremony by the DeMolay is the Flower Talk, which highlights the Virtue of Filial Love: love of parents and family. Through this virtue is the emphasis of abiding devotion to mothers. Although DeMolay bestows many beautiful lessons, none is more important than honor and true respect for womanhood, and more especially for motherhood.
Joy was the rock of her family. Her children were her heart. As such, her interests and activities were centered on them. From the ball field for little league, pee wee football and cheerleading to homeroom mom, PTA, Girl Scouts and junior high band. With the realm of teenagers came having eyes in the back of her head, mending heartaches, attending school conferences, and giving unconditional love at all times.
Joy is survived by Her Children: Jimmie (Sharon) Williams, Rusty (Lori) Williams and Connie Ann (Darrell) Webster; Grandchildren: Brandy (Jay) Robbins, Christopher (Melissa Boyd) Williams, T.J. (Kasey) Williams, Eric Williams, Colin Fagan, Corey Williams, Hailee Fagan, Joshua and Jeremiah Webster; Great Grandchildren: Christian, Allison, Ashton, Blaine, Emry, Emma Grace, Aidan Carter and Emily; Sister Connie L. Stuart (Carol Altenbaugh); Fur Babies Duchess and Princess.
A special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joseph Millan and his staff for all of their loving care.
