Elizabeth M. James, a resident of Durham from 1971 until 2003 passed way on Sunday, September 26 in Jacksonville, FL at the age of 90. She was the widow of William E. James, Sr. and is survived by her four children; William E James, Jr. (wife Wanda) of Columbia, MD; Nancy James Garrison (husband John) of Bennington, VT; Mary Dell James of Jacksonville, FL and Linda James Smolens (husband Peter) of Manassas, VA, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was retired from Durham County Social Services.
She will be buried in Greensboro, NC in a private service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Northeast Florida Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 (communityhospice.com).
