Deanne Kate Pearce passed peacefully of natural causes on Friday, March 3, 2023 in St. Augustine, FL. Deanne was born August 26, 1937 in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of James Lester and Mary Morene King. She was the third of four children, Jimmy King, Florence King Rodgers and Brenda King Swain.
Deanne attended John Gorrie Jr. High School and completed her GED later in life.
She was a homemaker and then started a new career, working as a cashier with Publix, retiring after 10 years of service. Her most recent interests were reading, working word puzzles and especially spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-granddaughter. In her youth, she enjoyed bowling and cake decorating. In 1971 she became the Florida State Champion at the Florida Women’s Bowling Association state tournament in West Palm Beach.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Benny L. Pearce, Sr. and her eldest sister, Florence Rodgers.
Deanne is survived by her children, Mary “Cathy” Peterson(Kevin) and Benny L. Pearce, Jr.(Mary); grand-children, Rachel Herman and Sarah Pearce; great-granddaughter, Sophia Herman; sister, Brenda Swain and brother, Jimmy King.
A visitation for Deanne will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 11:00 AM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
