Daniel Christopher Griffis, 48, of Jacksonville, FL passed away suddenly of April 16, 2023 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. This loss was completely unexpected leaving family and friends deeply saddened. He will be truly missed in so many ways.
Daniel was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 1, 1974 to Dewey and Lynda Griffis. At age 13, Daniel became a glazier working along side this father. With 35 years’ experience he was self-motivated and a master in all aspects of the glazing industry. He was very well respected in the industry because of his knowledge, passion and unmatched work ethic. He touched everyone’s lives that he worked with. His co-workers and friends described Daniel as nothing but kind, hardworking and awesome. Daniel had a gift using his hands and a mind that sought perfection in everything he touched, made or fixed.
Daniel is survived by a brother, Michael Griffis and wife, Mackenzie Griffis of Lawtey, FL; two nieces, Adalyn and Avery Griffis of Lawtey, FL; nephew, Sam Griffis of Lawtey, FL; partner in life of 14 years, Kimberley Robertson of Jacksonville, FL; and their pet dog, Miley.
Daniel is preceded in death by his mother, Lynda Martin Griffis and father, Dewey Isham Griffis.
We all know Daniel’s love for fishing and to be out on the water, so we thought it would be fitting to let him go at sea. We miss him every day, but we know he will be happy and at peace in his new home gently floating in the water.
“With every drop of water you drink, every breath you take, you’re connected to the sea no matter where on earth you live.” Sylvia Earle
