Daniel Richmond Grant Jr., age 88, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born January 9, 1927 in Jacksonville, Florida to Daniel R. and Nancy E. (King) Grant Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Lois Milbury Grant. Daniel attended High School in Greenville, Florida. He joined the United States Navy in 1944, serving in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS John Rodgers, during World War II. He retired from the Navy in 1964, as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of the American Legion Post #137, serving as a past Vice President of the organization. He also was the owner and operator of Grant’s Wall Coverings. He will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 12 years Vivian L. Grant; sons Daniel (Rick) R. Grant III (Deedee); Kenneth Milbury Grant (Celeste); Brian Keith Grant; daughter Carolyn D. Hand (Thomas); five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Family will receive family and friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral services will be 12:00 pm, Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Dick Petry officiating. Interment will follow the services at Riverside Memorial Park.
