Dan A. Murray, age 81, of Jacksonville, FL., passed away on 3/30/20. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on August 6, 1938. Dan lived his entire life in Jacksonville and graduated High School from Andrew Jackson. He was a member of the Florida Air National Guard.
He was married to Darcile (Davis) on November 25, 1959. Together they shared 60 plus years and raised a family. Dan worked as a conductor for CSX railroad for 42 years, and retired in 2000. He spent his retirement tending to his cows and farming. Dan was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as his church family at Oak Hill Nazarene Church. Dan also enjoyed coaching a church softball team and fishing when he took at occasional break.
Dan was predeceased by his father Gilbert C. Murray, his mother Ruby Murray, his brothers Laurie (Delores), and Donald (Linda). He is survived by his wife Darcile, his sons Dale, and David (Janice), two grandchildren Heather Ray (Johnny), and Daniel Murray, a great-granddaughter Elena Ray, as well as his sister Lorraine (Sid) Spence, and brother Paul (Sandra) Murray, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Jacksonville, FL for the care and comfort that they provided both Dan and the family.
The family only will gather on Friday, April 4, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park for a graveside service, officiated by Pastor Tim Maynard. Due to the recent circumstances our society is facing, the family requests for those not attending the service due to the guest limit for the graveside service to please sign the online guest register at hgriversidefuneralhome.com, and leave your condolences for the family.
