Curtis passed away on May 8 in one of his favorite places, Black Mountain, NC. He spent many years traveling to Black Mountain with his parents and grew to love the area. As an adult it was a great place for him to unwind and work on his cabin. It was actually the only place he did unwind except for when he was fishing in the Florida Keys. Curtis graduated from Robert E. Lee High School (1978) and the University of Florida (1985) and began working at Ring Power Corporation. He stayed with Ring Power for 28 years and served in many roles. If given his choice, he would still be at Ring Power today.
In 2011 Curtis was diagnosed with brain cancer and decided to retire in 2013. He put up a great fight through the years, especially after experiencing a stroke in 2020 while undergoing surgery for a recurrent tumor. He fought through his deficits daily with stubbornness, tenacity and sheer will. His happiest times were talking with his son Neil about Ring Power (Neil is an employee), being on a boat, and being Papa to granddaughters Austin and Libby.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 36 years, Michelle, son Neil (wife Chloe and daughters Austin and Libby), mother Darcile, and brother Gary (wife Lori). He is also survived by a few special people who stepped in mightily after his stroke in 2020 to help physically and emotionally. The family appreciates their willingness to help and their support in difficult times: Priscilla Stover (mother-in-law), Jeff Sturgess, Joe Higginbotham, Dan Caisse and Chris and Kathy Overbey. And one last shout out to the original Cul de Sac family. Curtis was blessed to have you in his life.
