Charlie retired from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in 2004 after 36 years of faithful service and then returned a year later to serve as a bailiff in the Court system until he retired from that position January 31, 2013. Charlie was proud of his country and served in Vietnam in 1966 to 1967. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing him. He led many people to the Lord by volunteering his time at the Sulzbacher Center, the Rescue Mission, Trinity and going to the State Prison at Raiford to minister, sing and play his harmonica.
Charlie leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Jacquelyn, daughters Kimberly Jones, Kelli Logan (David) and son Craig Wilson (Melynda), 4 grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Trevor and Austin, his brother, Jimmy Wilson(Sandi), and his sister Patsy Howard and many family members and all his extended family at JSO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Ann Dick (Terry).
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 25 from 6 –9 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 26 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 124 West Ashley St., Jacksonville, FL 32202. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery on North Main Street, Gate 5, Cummer Drive.
