

Tony proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1992, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His military career took him to various parts of the world, where he earned numerous commendations. While in the Navy, he served at numerous commands to include the USS Woodrow Wilson SSBN – 624, Naval Ordinance Test Unit Cape Canaveral, USS Simon Lake AS – 33, USS Canopus AS-34, and Trident Training Facility Kings Bay.
Following his distinguished military service, Tony continued to serve his community as a Fireman and Paramedic of Camden County, St.Marys and Kingsland, Georgia where he worked for 40 years.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife Chris; his children, Tony(Bernie), Christina(Gary), Donnie(Melissa) and Step-Daughter Ann(Mike); his Grandchildren Dillon, Jack, Caleb, Amaya, Gary, McKenzie, Zachary (Leann), and Step-Granddaughter Stephanie; Great Granddaughter Emma and Step-Great Grandchildren Andrea and Joseph and his mother, Ruth Pheneger. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
A Viewing to honor Tony’s life and service will be held at 0930 on April 22 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any Veterans or Fire Rescue charity, in Tony’s memory.
