Charles Hansford Daniels

Charles (Chuck) Hansford Daniels died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Chuck has been a resident of Jacksonville for more than 20 years. He is survived by his daughters Nicole (Massachusetts), Darci, son-in-law Steven (Maine), grandchildren Jared, Savannah, Aaron and Amelia, sister Leslie (Jacksonville), brother Douglas (Houston) and numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck is predeceased by his parents Charles and Florence, brothers Stephen, Guy, John; sister Ruthann (all of Jacksonville); and son-in-law David Dorso (Massachusetts).

Chuck (MSG RET) Served as past president SFA88 and was an SFA88 Charter member. He was born in Charleston SC, June 26, 1942 and entered the Army as an ASA Morse Interceptor in March 1962. He was one of 7 “Army Brats” whose father was an ASA CSM (Ret). Chuck and his siblings were raised at various Army locations where his dad was stationed, both in the United States and abroad. Chuck graduated from high school at Fort Devens, received an AA from Wachussett Community College and attended Fitchburg State. Chuck was a career Green Beret member of 3rd, 5th, 8th and 10th SFG’s.

He was always gregarious and was “New England Loud” but always with the southern drawl of his family heritage and upbringing. He was in the 5th SFG in Vietnam from April 1966 until August 1968. He had CIB ARCOM with V device and 3 OLC’S, Sr. Parachutist with RVN Wings. Chuck was always a concealed carry and expert marksman with a pistol and M16. He still knew Morse code, enjoyed boating, and was an avid fisherman and scuba diver. Chuck was a great SFFA88 Brother and will be greatly missed by his family, his SFA Brothers who all knew him.

There will be a celebration of life service on Sunday, February 19th, at 4:00pm at the greater beaches VFW Post 3270, 915 8th Avenue S. Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. Burial will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a date and time to be announced.

In lieu of Flowers the family requests donations for the local SFA88 Chapter.
