Carol Brooks Garrett

Ellen Carol Brooks Garrett, 84, went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2023. She was born on March 28, 1939 in Loganville, Georgia, a small town near Atlanta. She and her family moved to Augusta, Georgia when Carol was 12 years old in 1951. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into her heart when she was 13 years old. Carol enjoyed her teenage years in Augusta, then moved to Rochester, New York and attended Eastman Dental Dispensary School and graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene in 1960.

She then moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she met and married her husband, Gerald C. “Jerry” Garrett and enjoyed 47 years of marriage and practiced Dental Hygiene for 33 years. When Carol was 30 years old, June 1969, she found God’s joy while teaching vacation bible school at the First Baptist Church, of Jacksonville. She enjoyed serving in the nursery at the church for many years.

She was predeceased by her loving husband “Jerry” and was blessed with three beautiful and loving daughters- Glenda Gail “Gigi” Edwards, Cammie Leigh Davidson (Scott), and Sarah Ellen Herrin (Edwin). She especially loved and enjoyed her six precious grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Edwards, David Bryan Edwards, Joseph Garrett Davidson (deceased), Andrew Scott Davidson (Hayley), Edwin Baker Herrin, and Parker Brooks Herrin. She never forgot anyone’s birthday by sending a card and a phone call.

There will be a funeral service at Hardage-Giddens in Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, on Saturday November 4, 2023, beginning at 10:30 am followed by a reception at the same location. In lieu of flowers, Carol preferred donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.
