Bong Chul Kim was the most loving husband, father, and grandfather. He peacefully walked up to Heaven on October 21, 2024, at the age of 86. Despite his long battle with medical issues in recent years, he stayed strong until the very end.
He was born on June 20, 1938, in South Korea. Bong served in the Korean Air Force for 15 years. While he was in the Air Force, he met the love of his life, Chong Ja Park. Together, they had two children: Kyu Ho and Eun Ho. Bong immigrated with them to the U.S. on April 28, 1975. With the heart and mind to provide better for his new family, he diligently worked three jobs. After his one and only granddaughter, Sophia, was born, Bong was never short of being the best grandfather in the world.
Bong had the biggest green thumb on Earth and adored gardening. He often received awards for Yard of the Month and made our house into a home. He would frequently host dinners with his wife for their church members and always gifted them fresh vegetables that they grew in their backyard. Bong also loved to be by the sea. He always took his wife on fishing dates, where they would catch enough fish to fill iceboxes to feed their family and church.
A visitation for Bong will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
