Betty Wayne Hawthorne Covington, 74, passed on to her Heavenly home Monday , October 10, 2016. Betty was born to Wayne and Lula Hawthorne on March 16, 1942 in Bristol, Tennessee. She was a resident of Jacksonville since 1982 coming from Gulf Breeze, FL.
Betty joined her mother, Lula Hawthorne, in their family profession of cosmetology that began in the 1920’s by her grandmother Etta Minnick, who after New York training opened the first Salon and Certified training facility in the East Tennessee area. After a short successful career of 6 years, she became a full-time most dedicated mother for her son Clay. Betty followed her husband's employment throughout Tennessee and Alabama, obtaining their goal to live in Florida. Betty has the true gift of love for people, animals, and all living plant life. We are confident Betty has been well received into Heaven as one who will share her many qualities and conversation with those who have also entered into eternal peace. While deeply missed, her family will join her at a time of God's wishes.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Larry B. Covington of Atlantic Beach, FL, son Clay Covington and daughter-in-law, Corinne Covington of Jacksonville, FL and a cousin Stephanie (Beryl) Blakely of Kingsport, TN.
