MILAM, Arthur Wilson of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida passed away August 24, 2016. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Arthur was the son of the late Robert Richerson Milam and Meriel Wilson Milam, both of Jacksonville, Florida.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Teresa de Balmaseda Milam; children, Robin A. Milam (Shelby) of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Melissa Milam Ekblom of Washington, D.C.; George Champion, III (Jill) of La Jolla, California; and Robert Cesar de Balmaseda Champion (Lenka) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University (Class of 1950) and law degree from Columbia University. He practiced law in Jacksonville for 50 years. He was a member of the American Bar Association, Florida Bar Association and Jacksonville Bar Association. He served on the governing boards and, in several instances, as Chairman or officer of various private companies and charities including the Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Boys Club of Jacksonville, the March of Dimes, MOCA-Jacksonville, the Ponte Vedra Community Association, the Ponte Vedra Public Education Foundation, the Jacksonville Symphony Association and Salvation Army. He was, for many years, a member of The Trollope Society, the Yale Club of New York City, the River Club of Jacksonville and The Ponte Vedra Club.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:00am at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Interment will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery.
