Ann Cheatham was born at home in Dry Branch, Georgia to George and Alice Simmons. She was blessed to have 9 brothers and 1 sister: John Simmons, George Simmons, Mary Peterman (deceased), Billy Simmons (deceased), Bobby Simmons, Frank Simmons, Cecil Simmons, Larry Simmons (deceased), Lonnie Simmons (deceased) and Timmy Simmons.
She worked for Genuine Auto Parts (NAPA) as a bookkeeper and retired after 42 years. Ann loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist of Jacksonville. Later in life she moved her membership to Westside Baptist Church. Over the years she volunteered as a caregiver, after being a caregiver for her husband, Robert “Bob” Cheatham (deceased). They were married for 51 years.
Her family includes 4 children: Linda Larrimore (Gary Larrimore), Alfred Cheatham (deceased), Carol Cheatham, and Charles Cheatham (Laurie Cheatham); 6 grandchildren Shannon Lynch, Kelly Hamilton, Cheryl Cheatham, Melissa Shrader, Michael Cheatham and Sean Larrimore; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She loved them all!
She enjoyed cooking for others, especially baking i.e., cakes, pies, peanut brittle, pralines and macaroons. She took organ lessons at the age 70 and enjoyed making a joyful noise unto the Lord. Ann was an avid reader of novels, the Bible and loved crossword puzzles. She went back to school at the age of 70 and graduated from Florida Community College of Jacksonville, Florida with a High School Diploma. This was a great accomplishment!
In 2016 she moved to Savannah, Georgia and enjoyed being with children and grandchildren. She always loved to give out cookies and peanut brittle to everyone.
The last 2 years of life she had Parkinsons and arthritis limiting her walking.
The Family will receive friends for a visitation on June 24, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205 with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Graveside service will be at Riverside Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m.
