Alice Gray Jordan Walton, born July 10, 1931, went home to be with her Lord on October 24, 2019. Daughter of the late Plum Walton Jordan and Tiny Margaret Jordan, Alice was born and raised in Belhaven, North Carolina, along with five sisters and three brothers.
During her freshman year at East Carolina Teacher’s College she met the love of her life, Theadore Carl (Ted) Walton. During her years as the wife of a United States Marine Corps officer, they moved many times. After Ted’s retirement, Alice attended Roanoke Bible College (now Mid Atlantic Christian University) where she graduated Magna Cum Laude; the first grandmother/graduate. They lived in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, until 1989 when they moved to Jacksonville, Florida.
Alice was a devoted wife and mother. She loved the Lord, was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and was a member of Englewood Christian Church. One of the joys of Alice’s life was welcoming family and friends into her home, sharing her gift of hospitality. She was a gracious hostess and a kind and gentle spirit. Her husband of 69 years lovingly cared for her and provided her every need.
In addition to her husband, Alice leaves daughter, Joy Walton Tison (Greg) and son, Ted Jr. (Mary); grandchildren, Jessica McMullen (Christopher), Ryan Bright (Courtney), Katie Walton (Max) and Amy Watts (Jimmy); and six great-grandchildren, Maximilian and Madeline McMullen, Riley, Mila and Avinly Bright, and Lyanna Watts.
