A graduate of the University of West Florida in Business Management, his sense of duty and responsibility was evident in his long and distinguished career in the railroad industry, most notably with CSX Transportation. He never lost sight of the fact that the most important measure of his success would be how he treated other people. From his family, to his friends, even strangers he met along the way, Ron was a true gentleman.
Several months after their first date to the Kentucky Derby in 1975, Ron married the love of his life, Brenda Stull, and together they raised two sons. After over thirty years in railroad management, Ron retired to enjoy the things he loved most in life: his family, golf, baseball, and fishing.
A parishioner of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, his faith set the tone for his life. You could see his faith in action daily. He lived a life of love and gratitude and considered his close-knit family to be his greatest accomplishment.
Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda; brothers Mike, Steve, Rick, and sister, Linda; his two sons Steve (Corey) and Mike; his daughter-in-law Lisa Allen; and five grandchildren Tyler (Taylor), Cameron, Mason, Hanna and Marin, all of whom adored their “Papa;” brothers-in-law Wayne Stull (Louise), Roger Stull (Brenda); sister-in-law Sheila Stull; and many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Ron.
He was predeceased by his parents, William Woodrow and Vivian Leigh Phillips of Pensacola, Florida and his brother-in-law James Lynn Stull of Union Star, Kentucky.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens in Jacksonville Beach, Florida on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 2pm. A Funeral Mass with Interment will be held at San Juan del Rio Catholic Church at a later date.
