She was a 2008 graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School Math, Science and Technology Center in Henrico, Virginia and a 2012 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and Music Technology, where she was a founding member and business manager for RIT’s Proof of Purchase. Katie was a member of Three Chopt Presbyterian Church in Henrico, VA and was attending Community Presbyterian Church in Atlantic Beach, FL where she was a member of the Grateful Bread contemporary band. She was working for Starbucks.
Preceded in death by her grandparents, John & Viola Catherine Hopwood and George & Emma Huntley, she leaves her parents, Peter J. and Jean H. (Huntley) Hopwood; her aunt Susan Huntley of Nashua, NH; her uncle George Huntley of Milford, CT; her special uncle and aunt Paul and Virginia Flagg of Tewksbury, MA; and cousins Jeremy, Jessica and Cora. She also leaves to cherish her memory her loved friends too many to name.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at H. Warren Smith Cemetery, Jacksonville Beach, FL . A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Community Presbyterian Church at 150 Sherry Drive, Atlantic Beach, FL. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Three Chopt Presbyterian Church in Henrico, VA on Saturday, January 12, 2013.
