Jean Oswald Godwin

Jean Oswald Godwin, 93, passed away December 20th, 2022. She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years James T. Godwin, Atlantic Beach FL, daughters Cynthia Godwin Payne (Jim) Quincy, FL and Melody Godwin (Mo Roland) Atlantic Beach, FL. sisters Maxine Ochs, Crestview, FL, Margaret Smith Gardendale, AL & brother Bill Oswald (Lucretia) Tallavana, FL. and many other relatives.

Jean loved the mountains of Ashe County in West Jefferson, North Carolina, where she and Jim spent summers and holidays for 39 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family. She was active for many years with Neptune Baptist Church, delivering meals on wheels, and other volunteer activities.

She was a Girl Scout Leader, member of Selva Marina Country Club and the Bridge club.

She was preceded in death by infant daughter Van Lea Godwin, her parents Wessie Rae and Maxwell Oswald and brother Jack Oswald.

A celebration of her life will be held at Neptune Baptist Church on January 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Another celebration of life will be January 14th in Quincy, Fl., pending details.

In lieu of flowers family request donations be made in Jean’s name to The American Heart Association.
