Jackie Fairbairn was born July 8, 1927 in Hollywood, CA to Charles and Mimi Bailey. At age 4, she moved with her family to Jacksonville. She grew up in the Lake Shore neighborhood and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School.
As a young woman, Jackie was active at Riverside United Methodist Church, participated in USO functions, and later worked as a bookkeeper. During a visit to New York to visit her sister Montie, Jackie
met, and later married, Matthew James Fairbairn in 1951. They moved to Atlantic Beach, FL in 1955, where she resided ever since. Jackie was active in many local organizations including The Women's Club, Garden Club, Atlantic Beach and Selva Marina tennis teams, Christ United Methodist Church, and
many Bridge Clubs. She played more hands of Bridge and Gin than most people can count, and has the nickels to prove it. She enjoyed many travels with Donna Ross, Peggy Burton, and the late Peggy Holloway. She especially loved many cruises, and much travel with her husband Matthew.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents, her sister Montie, her husband of 49 years, Matthew, her sister-in law Margaret "Migs" Fairbairn Eisenstaedt (Alfred). Left to cherish her memory are her sons Hugh (Susan), Craig (Rita), and daughter Sheara Fitterman. She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Jackie would be honored by donations in her name to Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Penman Rd, Neptune Beach, FL 32266 or Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
