Jackie “Jack” Lee Croy, age 80, passed away on January 27, 2014 at home in Jacksonville, Florida of natural causes resulting from cancer. Born outside Dayton, Ohio on his family’s farm, Jack was a natural athlete and played football for Ohio State University in 1950-1952 under Coach “Woody” Hayes, before serving in the U.S. Air Force during the “Cold War” in Iceland and Eglin Air Force Base, FL. Following eight years of military service, Jack joined Multigraphics and Addressograph Corporation in Dayton as a Field Service Technician in the 1960’s before transferring to Jacksonville servicing Navy and Air Force accounts and Miami as Field Manager in the 1970’s when A-M Corp was branching into the computer age trying to keep pace with other companies like IBM. Before retiring, Jack spent many years golfing and later employed by the Grand Palms Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, Pembroke Pines FL where he supported golf course operations and tournaments.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Virgil Daugherty Croy, his father Carl Croy, his brothers Calvin, Gerald and Jerry Croy, and his son Michael Croy. Jack is survived by his sister Janet Croy Curry of Okeechobee FL, by his two sons David Croy of Stafford, VA and Steven Croy of Jacksonville, FL, his two daughters Diana Croy Getz of Hickory, NC and Linda Croy of Orlando, FL as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service in celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 3:30 on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL.
