Doris A Watson, age 84, passed away on January 4, 2013 after a long battle against Alzheimer’s. Doris was born in Seven Springs, NC and moved to Jacksonville in 1953. Doris was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and later Christ Episcopal Church. She retired from the Duval County Tax Collectors Office, the first female supervisor with the City. After her retirement, she worked many years as a volunteer for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Thrift Shop, Christ Episcopal Church and St. Lukes’s Hospital. She was an avid seamstress and gardener, who took great joy and pride in her home on the lake, her sanctuary, with its backyard full of plants and flowers.
Preceded in death by her husband Bill and son John Watson, Doris is survived by her daughters Doris Linney and Linda Atkinson, sons Bill Watson (Shawna), Charles Watson (Wayne) and grandchildren Thomas Watson (Lindsey), James Watson (Sara) and Brandi Marie Watson, and her great grandchildren.
A celebration of Doris’ life will be held 11:00am Friday, January 11, 2013 at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082
