Mark was born on February 15, 1961 in Nashville, TN. He went to his heavenly home at the age of 63 on December 2, 2024 in Houston, TX. Mark had a deep love for his Lord and Savior. Throughout his journey he was very faithful and had given this battle to his God. He said he was at peace in his journey, and he knew where he was going when the time came.
Mark resided in Jackson, TN most of his life, where he completed his education. He met the love of his life, Vicki, in the eleventh grade and they dated 8 1/2 years before marrying. They were married 38 years in 2024 and have been together a total of 46 years. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, Poppa, and friend. His family meant the world to him and brought him so much happiness. Mark and Vicki have two sons from their marriage. His two grandchildren were the highlight of his life and he enjoyed them immensely. Mark was an avid sports fan his entire life. He enjoyed playing and talking sports, coaching, as well as watching and attending games. He loved taking his sons to sports events and living the moment with them. He also had a passion for collecting baseball cards, which he was very proud of.
Mark was a dedicated employee of Federal Express Corporation as a courier for 36 years. He was able to retire at 60 to enjoy life with his family. He had a deep love for his FedEx family. He loved to travel, experience fine dining, and enjoy his music. He attended concerts and performances his entire life. Mark loved his dogs and enjoyed spending time with them. To say they were spoiled is an understatement. Mark was very much a people person and had the gift of gab.
Mark accepted Christ at an early age and was a State Bible Drill champion. He rededicated his life in 2022 and loved his home church and people at SoulQuest.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Renee Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki; his two sons, Hunter Smith (Kandi) and Houston Smith; his grandchildren, Bennett Smith and Haven Smith, plus two bonus grandchildren, Jace and Landon Volner; He is also survived by his parents, Stanley and Carolyn Smith; one sister, Jennifer Howell (Chris); and nephew, Dave Howell (Jordan).
Marks kind heart, warm sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate the life of Mark Smith will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Bro. Ronnie Coleman of SoulQuest Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, December 9, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Jackson Animal Care Center or SoulQuest Church. Links provided below.
