Marilyn Anne Allen Ferrell, 85, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, in her hometown. Born on June 1, 1939, in Jackson, she led a life marked by dedication to her family, career, and community.
Marilyn worked in accounting for the Internal Revenue Service, where her meticulous nature and professionalism made her an invaluable asset. Beyond her career, she pursued her passion for writing, co-authoring two books, Hicksville USA and More Hicksville Memories: The Last Hurrah, with her best friend, Charlotte Wilson. These works captured the heart of small-town life, preserving cherished memories for generations to come.
An award-winning cook, Marilyn’s recipes were celebrated and shared in publications, reflecting her creativity and culinary talent. She loved to travel and relished time spent with her beloved grandchildren, imparting her wisdom, humor, and joy in every moment.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Traci Tate, Joe Tate, Regina Ferrell, and Jim Ferrell (Jennifer); her treasured grandchildren, Alexis Wong, Kristen Wong, Anna Ferrell, Carter Ferrell, and Seaton Ferrell; and her sister, Jeanne Allen Buford. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Floyd Ferrell, Jr.; her parents, Otha and Muriel Allen; and her sisters, Bettye Allen Kennon and Judy Allen Jennings.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. A private graveside service will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marilyn's memory may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
Marilyn’s legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
