Judy was born on January 20, 1933 in Paducah, KY to the late Norman and Louise Caldwell. In 1954 on June 19, she married her high school sweetheart, Deacon Dr. William Lee (Bud) LaFont, Jr. Together they built a family and spent 57 wonderful years together in Jackson, TN.
Judy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was well known as being kind, spunky, and always thankful for life. Her favorite moments were spent with family, whether it be gathered around the dinner table, watching sports, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Some of the highlights of her life were spent at the beach with her family.
Judy was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending her days in the yard nurturing her flowers. She was a music lover, a world traveler, and had an eye for fashion, art, and design. She was also a huge sports fan who could be found cheering for her favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Judy was very involved with her church all throughout her life and was dedicated to serving the Lord. She was passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and always stayed active, being especially fond of dancing. She will long be remembered for her skill as both a cook and a baker, as she felt most at home in the kitchen. Her memory lives on in hundreds of family recipes.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband Bud of 57 years. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa LaFont Rolleri (Jim) of Travelers Rest, SC, Mary LaFont Mount (Chuck) of Nashville, TN; three sons, William Lee LaFont III (Angie) of Jackson, Christopher Thomas LaFont (Silvina) of Encino, CA, Donald Francis LaFont (Amy) of Jackson; one sister, Peggy Smith of Murfreesboro, TN; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many close, beloved friends.
A funeral mass for Judy LaFont will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Jackson. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will begin receiving visitors at 9 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023, and continue until the mass at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, RIFA, or St. Mary’s Church.
