Born December 11, 1929, in Henderson County, Tennessee, Jim led a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family, work, and faith. Jim built his career as an architectural draftsman, with Thomas, Ross, and Stanfill in Jackson, Tennessee, and Rust Engineering in Birmingham, Alabama. He had an eye for detail and a passion for craftsmanship, leaving a lasting legacy in his work.
Jim and his beloved wife, Doris Ann Deaton Wiley, were devoted members of Aldersgate Methodist Church, where their faith was a cornerstone of their lives. Together, they exemplified a life of love, generosity, and service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stewart Lester Wylie and Vera Brown Wylie; his wife, Doris; and several siblings.
Jim is survived by his son, Andy Wiley, and daughter-in-law, Amy Zulewski; and his granddaughter, Mirabelle Grinkevich, all of Nashville. His family and friends will remember him as a kind, thoughtful, and hardworking man who lived a life filled with quiet dignity and grace.
A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Jim’s family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this time. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
