Dixie Lee Aldrich

Dixie Lee Aldrich of Jackson, Tennessee went to be home with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 after a short illness. She passed away peacefully at age 84 surrounded by her husband and four children who loved her dearly.

Miss Dixie, as she was known to most, was born on January 11, 1937 in Lexington, Tennessee to Anne and David White. Having lost her parents as a child, Dixie developed at an early age a love and appreciation of the importance of family and friends, and her love and kindness to family and friends defined her for the rest of her wonderful life. She met her future husband, Charles, at age 16 while students at Jackson High School (graduating in 1955) and was married at age 17 on June 27, 1954. They started building their family early and had four children over the next eight years. A stay-at-home Mom until her children graduated from high school, she then embarked on a second career as a secretary at Jackson Central Merry High School and worked there for 25 years until retirement.

Dixie’s love for the Lord was clearly demonstrated in her service to West Jackson Baptist Church as a member for over 67 years. Over that time, she was deeply involved in children’s ministries as a Kindergarten teacher and Sunday school teacher. Her steadfast devotion to the Lord was also demonstrated to her husband and children through her daily reading of scripture which guided her steps and gave her the wisdom, strength, patience and kindness she displayed each day of her life.

Dixie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her love for her family knew no bounds. Even as the end of her life approached, her actions still showed that she was more concerned for their well-being than for her own.

Dixie was preceded in death by her father, David and her mother, Anne.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles Aldrich, her four sons, Mark Aldrich (Gerry Ann), Michael Aldrich (Gretta), Max Aldrich (Stephanie), Martin Aldrich (Marcia); her grandchildren, Chase Aldrich, Anna Williams (Lawson), Will Aldrich, Elizabeth Grossman (Kayce), Stafford Aldrich and Alex Aldrich (Dylan Dunston); and her great-grandchildren, Payten Dunston and Tucker Dunston.

Arrangements are with George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at West Jackson Baptist Church, 580 Oil Well Road, Jackson, Tennessee on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A service will follow at 1:00 p.m. to honor Dixie’s life and legacy.
