Bobby Gene Scoggins, 81, of Jackson, TN passed away peacefully at his home with his faithful wife, Sara Scoggins, by his side on November 8, 2014. Bobby Gene was born and reared in Bemis, TN, son of William Floyd and Mayola Siler Scoggins, who preceded him in death.
Bobby worked for the Bemis Cotton Mill, Wonder Bread, Conalco, and retired from TDOT. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed woodworking, and just fixing things around the house. He loved his afternoon rides on the golf cart with his bride, Sara to the pond to feed the fish. He enjoyed many family celebrations, holidays, and vacations to the Great Smoky Mountains. His family was everything to him and he, everything to his family. Bobby was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Bemis where he served as an inactive Deacon, a Sunday school teacher, as well as passionately serving on the building and grounds committee for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sara Scoggins; a daughter, Debbie Coffman and husband Edward and their son, Matthew and his wife Bobbie and their children, Cole and Maggie Coffman; a son, Mark Scoggins and wife Stacy; and their children River Scoggins; Luke Scoggins and his wife Danielle and their children, Jordan and Lucas; Lance Scoggins and wife Cassie and their children, Jace, Cayson, and Emma; three sisters, Ouida Scoggins; Doris Scoggins, Nashville; and Peggy Cupples and husband James.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Floyd and Mayola Siler Scoggins; an infant brother, a sister, Mary Austin; a brother, Billy Joe Scoggins, and a great-grandson, Camryn Jo Scoggins.
Serving as pallbearers are William "Bill" Siler, Dale Catlett, and grandsons Matthew Coffman, Luke Scoggins, Lance Scoggins, and River Scoggins.
Visitation with Bobby's family will be held at First Baptist Church Bemis on Tuesday, November 11th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The service will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at First Baptist Church Bemis at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. John Norvell and Dr. Bill Sims officiating. There will be a brief visitation at 10:00am prior to the service on Wednesday, November 12th.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First Baptist Church Bemis.
