After living a life filled with love, kindness, and generosity, Bill Easley completed his earthly journey on January 13, 2023. Though he will be immeasurably missed, the love and knowledge he poured into his loved ones will be cherished and carried on for generations. His life was truly a testament of love and loyalty.
Bill was born William Edward Easley on November 1, 1955 as the beloved son of the late Downie E. Easley and Johnnie M. Easley in Jackson, MS. Bill’s parents owned Easley and Easley Millwork, a family business, that was a big part of his life. At the age of 15, Bill began working for them during breaks from school. As an adult, he worked alongside his parents for many years. He would go on to become CEO, giving over 45 years of wholehearted dedication to the successful business until his retirement in recent years.
From an early age, Bill had a passion for learning and was a lifelong scholar. After graduating from high school, Bill attended Mississippi College. After receiving special permission to take more than the allowed classes per semester, Bill earned his Bachelor of Science degree with special honors in record time. He then went on to receive a Master of Combined Sciences degree. Bill was a member of Mensa International and countless other academic organizations. Along with his love to learn, was a love to teach. He was known to explain just about any subject to anyone who would stay still long enough.
Bill’s love of math and science was only exceeded by his love for his wife, Debbie. They met at MC, married in 1976 and spent over 46 years together. After marrying, the couple stayed close to home and created a beautiful family. They welcomed a son, Corey, and daughter, Melissa. His beloved black lab, Molly, must also be mentioned. As years passed, he was thrilled to add the title of Grandad to his life. Bill could be defined by his love for his family. He was a devoted, thoughtful, and loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He dedicated himself to caring for them in every way he could, often putting his needs last. Bill was the family problem solver, always available to research a question, give advice or come to the rescue.
Bill was raised as a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church. He then joined Debbie as an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and lead the television ministry for many years. The importance of living a life of peace, compassion and service to others was obvious by the way Bill lived his life.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Downie E. Easley and Johnnie M. Easley. Also by Molly, who we know is licking his face right now.
Bill is survived by his wife, Debbie Burke Easley, son, Corey Easley, daughter, Melissa Easley Flanagin (Drew Flanagin), and his precious grandchildren, Layton and Mary Kate Flanagin.
Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on January 17, 2023. Visitation begins at 11:00, with a funeral service at 1:00. Interment to follow at Lakewood Cemetery.
