Robert Lee French “Bob” of Terry MS passed away at The Rose Garden in Ridgeland, MS on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the age of 91. Bob was born on August 20, 1932 to Gertrude and James French. After graduating from Central High School, he then attended Hinds Community College in Raymond. A proud graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi, Bob held a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He enjoyed his Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity brothers and playing the saxophone in the band at The University of Southern Mississippi.
Bob met the love of his life Jewel French and they have been married 68 years building a family and business. A retired business owner, where he owned and operated French Awning & Screen Co for over 40 years in Jackson, MS. He served as treasurer of the Civitan Club. He was a member and served as a Deacon for many years at Parkway Baptist Church. Later, he became a member of First Baptist Church of Raymond. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend that will be missed dearly.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cracking jokes, watching sports, bowling, playing golf, hunting, and fishing.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and nurses at The Rose Garden for helping us take such great care of him.
Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jewel French; Sons Scott French (Robin), Kerry French (Judy); and daughter Sharon French; his grandchildren Lori Taylor, Nicole Anderson, Meghan Peeples, James French, Matt French, nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Wednesday March 13, 2024 from 9 AM to 10 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd. Jackson, MS 39209 followed by a celebration of life at 10 AM. He will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park 6000 Clinton Blvd. Jackson, MS 39209
