Mr. Dykes grew up on a dairy farm in Progress, MS with his four brothers and one sister. On the farm he enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting. After graduating from high school, he met and married the lady that he would spend the next 61 years caring for unconditionally. Together they had 2 sons and 2 daughters.
Mr. Randy, as most called him, loved spending time at home with his family and was always outside doing yard work or tending his garden. He never met a stranger and if he didn't know you he would make you feel like he did. He was a special and wonderful, Christian man that showed kindness through his smile, laugh, and gentle words. To his family, he was their "Hero" and their "Strength" and to his friends, he was their "Mentor".
Mr. Dykes suffered for many years with Alzheimer's and severe dementia. Was taken care of by family at home until he was no longer able to remain at home due to his medical condition. He then resided at Camellia Estates Assisted Living Facility in McComb, MS for one year until his passing. According to the staff at the facility, Mr. Randy was extremely well-liked and will be missed, especially his singing, "oh my darling".
