Marguerite L. Cothern

Marguerite graduated from Tylertown High School in 1951. She attended Spencer Business College in New Orleans, LA. She worked for the MS State Board of Health for 43 years and retired in 1995. She also worked part time as a bookkeeper for Sprayberry Construction Company for 15 years. She served as Chairperson of the MS Public Health Workers Federal Credit Union for 33 years, State President of the State Employees Association of MS for one year and President of the Underwood Chapter of State Employees for one year.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mason Lloyd Andrews and loving husband, Charles Elton Cothern. She is survived by daughters, Sandra L. Cothern of Brandon, MS and Judy L. Ashcraft (Kevin) of Madison, MS; grandson, Zachary M. Ashcraft (Kaitlin); granddaughter, Sarah Grace Ashcraft; great grandson, Hudson R. Ashcraft and one soon to be born great granddaughter.

Marguerite was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. She loved to work and will always be remembered for her giving heart and fierce love of her family.

A pavilion service for Marguerite will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, Mississippi 39209. Marguerite will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park.
