James Edward “Buddy” Harrell, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013. He had recently celebrated his 94th birthday on the 4th of July.
A WWII Veteran, James, retired from the City of Jackson in 1979 Buddy will be remembered most for his quick wit and ability to make others laugh.
James is preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Warren Harthcock Harrell. He leaves behind his second wife, Sadie Harrell, his children, Lois Greer of Canton, Joseph “Bud” Harrell of Birmingham, AL, Shirley Woodard of Clinton, his stepsons, Frank Polk of Lake Jackson, TX., James Polk of Richland, and David Polk of Seabrook, TX., and his sisters, Mae Bell Eldridge and Lorraine “Sweetie” Alderman, both of Yazoo City. “Big Daddy” will be dearly missed by his 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am Wednesday from the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00pm till 7:00pm and Wednesday from 9:00am till 10:00am. Graveside services will be 2:00pm at Harlands Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Holmes County.
