Frances Root Norton

Frances was born on August 8, 1932 in Jackson, Mississippi. Her parents were Oliver J. Root and Christine Draughn Root. Frances graduated from Central High School Jackson and from Mississippi College in Clinton. Frances grew up in Griffith Baptist Church. In 1964 she was married to John Robert Norton and moved to Atlanta. There she joined Decatur First Methodist Church. Frances was employed by Delta Airline in both Jackson and Atlanta. She enjoyed extensive travel with Delta. France later taught at a church preschool for seven years. Frances had on daughter, Nancy Carol Norton.

She is survived by her husband, John Robert Norton, by her daughter, Nancy Salome (Joe) and by two grandchildren, Kyle Joseph Salome and Sarah Grace Salome.

Frances had many close and valued friends at United Methodist Women Decatur FUMC and at the Ladies Bible study group at Marietta First Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Larry Burgess at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, GA on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a visitation held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Andy Fullington in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. Frances will be buried in Lakewood Cemetery Jackson, MS alongside her parents and grandparents.
