A visitation will be held on Monday, December 11,2023 at 10:00 to 12 noon with the Celebration of Life service to follow at noon at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd in Jackson, MS.
Dot was born on July 25,1926 to Monroe and Mamie Emfinger in Meadville, MS. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School and Hinds Jr College. She moved to Jackson in 1944 and met and married James E. Richardson on March 16, 1946. They celebrated sixty years of marriage before his death. In 1969, they opened Richardson’s Apparel in Mart 51, Jackson, MS. She retired on April 11,1981.
Dot loved vegetable and flower gardening. She was known for her beautiful day lilies, many of which were registered. She also loved to sew, embroider, and crochet. She loved to sew beautiful treasures and share with others. Traveling was also another favorite pastime. She loved her annual trips to the Great Smoky Mountains.
Love for her Lord and Savior was evident in her daily life. She loved her family and friends. If you knew her, you loved her and she loved you.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James E. Richardson; her brother, Marcus Emfinger and his wife, Irene.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky Smith, and her “favorite” son-in-law, Sid; her grandson, Michael Smith, and wife, Jene’; and two great grandchildren, Sydni Smith and Evans Smith.
We would like to give a special thank you to Lynn Sanford for her special care and the Baptist Medical Center and their staff, especially Carlos.
