Del Joseph Cochran, a selfless man with a heart full of love and a lifetime dedicated to service, passed away on September 15, 2023. Del was born on April 24, 1962, and throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his unwavering kindness, compassion, and dedication.
Del's journey in service began in the field of Physical Therapy, where he spent a significant portion of his life helping others regain their strength, health, and hope. His passion for aiding those in need extended beyond his profession, leading him to serve in the Navy for twenty-two years. Del retired as a Corpsman, Senior Chief Petty Officer, a testament to his commitment and dedication to his country.
Del was not only a dedicated serviceman but also a doting son to his mother, Carol Cochran, loving husband to Jill, a role he cherished and celebrated daily. He was a devoted father to Collette Ritums and Seth McCoy, imparting invaluable wisdom, love, and guidance to his children. Del's love for family was boundless, and he embraced his role as, a grandfather to Mason Ritums, Jillian Hansen, Gab Ritums, Emma Ritums, Ezekel Meads, Tessa McCoy, and Great Grandfather to Adalynn Hanson and Nova Ritums with immeasurable joy.
Known affectionately as "Poppy," Del was a beacon of love, support, and encouragement to his family and friends. He had an extraordinary ability to make each person feel valued and loved, and his impact on their lives will forever be remembered. Del's selflessness and caring nature extended to helping hundreds of people throughout his lifetime, leaving an indelible mark of love and compassion on the lives he touched.
Del Joseph Cochran will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, service, and generosity will live on through the countless lives he enriched and the love he shared with all. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that he made the world a better place through his acts of kindness and his unwavering love for others.
Urn interment will be at 10:45 a.m., Friday, November 3 at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
