Billy Bynum, 90 died September 11, 2016 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was born March 13, 1926, in Pelahatchie, MS. He was a World War II Veteran. In earlier years, he worked for Knox Glass (Glass Containers) where he met the love of his life, Frances Jackson Pierce. They married in 1958 and made their home in Jackson. They moved to Crystal Springs, MS, approximately 20 years ago to be closer to part of the family. Billy “inherited” three children, Ann, Sandy, who preceded him in death and Freeman. He was a devoted husband and stepfather and built many memories for us to cherish. He retired from Jones Truck Lines after working for several trucking companies. He was an avid bowler and bowled past his ninetieth birthday. His “bowling buddies” were part of his family. Billy is survived by his wife, Frances Bynum, stepson, Freeman Pierce (Faye); stepdaughter, Ann Rodgers (David); six grandchildren, Les Rodgers (Beverly), Michael Rodgers (Stacy), Randy Rodgers, Tony Pierce (Rachel), Stacie Gettis (Heath) and Clayton Pierce (Marci); nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Another great-great grandchild is expected in December. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Harmony Baptist Church, Crystal Springs, MS. Service will follow at 3:00 pm with burial in Harmony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Ministry of Harmony Baptist Church, 6057 Harmony Road, Crystal Springs, MS 39059.
