Travis Lanniere Harris

Travis Lanniere Harris was born April 22, 1936 in Jackson, MI to Allen Lee and Maggie Harris. Travis (Bear) was the second of six children. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1954 where he played basketball. He furthered his education at Jackson Community College and New York City College. Travis was employed by the U.S. Post Office in both Jackson and New York City, Memorial Sloan Kettering and retired from the NYC Transit Authority. After retirement, he lived in Seattle, WA and Cary, NC before returning to Jackson due to declining health and resided at Ganton’s Countryside Manor. Travis enjoyed travel and made a number of trips to South America, Australia and New Zeeland. Travis served his country and was stationed in the U.S. Army in Germany. Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Lee and Maggie Harris; brothers, Melvin and John and sister, Gwendolyn (Harris) Goodwin. Travis is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Judith Harris; sister, Carrolyn Harris; nephews: Kevin, Chad and Jakaree Harris; nieces: Lisa and Kiara Harris and a number of cousins and other relatives. The family would like to thank Ganton’s Countryside Manor, the VA in Michigan Center and Ann Arbor and Jackson County Medical Care Facility for their exceptional care. Private burial has taken place.
