Phyllis Marie Hicks

Of Jackson, MI passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024 at the age of 92. Phyllis was born in Floyd County, KY on June 6, 1932 to parents Phillip and Della (Parrott) Flannery. She married her husband of 73 years, Rheuben Hicks, on August 3, 1951. Phyllis was a hardworking, over producing production manager whose career included General Electric, Hancock ITT., ultimately retiring from Edscha Manufacturing. Her sanctuary was her home and meticulous lawn. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and motivation to provide for and protect. The love of her life was her husband, whom she pined for, even in his passing, and her passage into Alzheimer's. She enjoyed going to the casino, traveling the US, and garage sailing. She was an energetic, determined example for all who knew her. Phyllis is survived by her children Kathie (Hicks) Rochefort and Rheuben Jason (Gil) Hicks; grandchildren Rick Rochefort and Nicole (Greg) Tone; siblings Clara Fay (Flannery) Hicks and Larry (Linda) Flannery; along with many nieces, nephews and other friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband Rheuben Hicks (2019); parents Phillip and Della Flannery; son Douglas Hicks; and siblings Birdie Estil, Walter, David, Phillip Jr., and Chuck. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 East Michigan Ave) with visitation from 11:00 AM until time of service. Phyllis will be laid to rest next to her loving husband at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
